So far so good

So far, this year has already been a big one for us here at Kald Creations. We have had the chance to attend several incredible conventions, share our game designs with new players, gather meaningful feedback, and connect with people who continue to remind us why we love making games in the first place.

So far, we have attended the Gamers of Winter Convention, Unpub, and PAX East. Each event brought something different, and each one helped shape where we are headed next.

Gamers of Winter

Gamers of Winter was intimate, welcoming, and a lot of fun. Even though it was a smaller convention, the energy was constant. People were always sitting down, learning games, and talking about what they loved.

For us, it was a great opportunity to show our work in a more relaxed space. We got to participate, playtest, and meet people who were genuinely excited about tabletop games. Sometimes smaller conventions create the best conversations, and Gamers of Winter reminded us how powerful a passionate gaming community can be.

Unpub

Unpub was amazing.

We had the chance to participate in Feedback Frenzy, attend panels, meet with publishers, and spend time surrounded by other designers who are also working hard to bring their ideas to life. The feedback we received was invaluable, and the conversations we had helped us to clarify our thoughts concerning our designs, our goals, and the overall direction of Kald Creations.

Unpub was also a place where we made connections that we know will last far beyond the convention itself. We met designers, publishers, playtesters, and friends who encouraged us, challenged us, and helped us see new possibilities for our games.

PAX East

Then came PAX East, and it was huge.

We had not been to a convention that large since the last time we attended New York Comic Con. We were able to reconnect with friends from Unpub, and continue building relationships with people who are also passionate about game design.

We also tested new games, attended livestreams, and, most importantly, had a great time in Boston. (Great food!)

PAX East reminded us how huge the gaming world REALLY is. It was inspiring to see so many creators, publishers, and players gathered in the perfect place to celebrate games.

Looking Ahead

We still have more events on the horizon this year, and we are excited for what comes next. We have yet to attend:

  • Gamers of Summer

  • Lazarus Games Developer Day

  • Harrisburg Board Game Day

  • PAX Unplugged

Each of these events gives us another chance to playtest, learn, meet people, and continue growing as designers. We are especially looking forward to sharing more of what we have been working on and seeing how players respond as our games continue to evolve.

What We’re Working On

Game design has slowed down a bit recently due to outside factors, but things are turning around and we are getting back on track. Even when progress feels slower than we would like, the ideas are still moving, the games are still growing, and we are still committed to making unique tabletop experiences.

Right now, we are continuing to develop our current game projects, refine mechanics, and respond to the feedback we have received from playtesters and publishers. Every convention this year has given us something useful to bring back to the table.

We are also experimenting with utilizing 3D prints for our designs. This opens up a world of new possibilities for components, prototyping, and accessibility. Being able to physically build and test pieces ourselves gives us more freedom to explore how our games look and feel when they hit the table.

In addition to design work, we are trying to be more active on social media. Our social media manager has been hard at work helping us share updates, connect with players, and give people a better look at what is happening behind the scenes at Kald Creations.

We are also working with the Dextrous platform, which has been helping us think about how we organize, develop, and present our projects as they continue to grow.

Thank You

The biggest takeaway from this year so far is gratitude.

We are grateful for every person who has sat down to play one of our games. We are grateful for every piece of feedback, every conversation, every publisher meeting, every new friend, reminded us we are part of something bigger.

Kald Creations is still growing, still learning, and still finding its path. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. We can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
